Mommy & Daughter Holiday Self-Care
What if I told you that the holidays are the best time to create the most magical self-care alliance? Wild right. But ladies, after having my little one and having a chat with my mom- a mommy of four, I think I may have figured out the best way to enjoy the holidays with less stress and anxiety. Here’s a brief storytime and a 5 step plan to a beautiful mommy & me, holiday self-care challenge.
M&d holiday self-care
Life as a mommy can be stressful, let alone life as a mommy during the holidays. I remember my life pre-baby, which was literally just the other day (no seriously, it was just the other day, my baby is only 8 months) and my goodness, the thought of Christmas was so exciting and don’t get me wrong, Christmas is still so exciting but this year there’s an added pressure. As a mommy, you want to make sure every holiday is memorable for all the fun activities and toys that your little ones receive.

SELF CARE
Alína is only 8 months and definitely won’t remember her first Christmas but I still feel strongly under pressure to make it perfect! With all our desires to make our holiday season special, it’s easy for the holidays to become a time of stress, but as a new mom and a millennial I started to plan a way to not only create less stress but make the holidays all about self-care.
The holidays should be exactly that, a holiday! A break from the stresses that us moms already have, while still making the festive season fun and memorable for our kids? In this blog post I will give you 3 ways to make the holidays special while giving you a holiday self-care challenge for you and your little girl that you can use in 2021 and beyond.

SPADAY
Everyone enjoys a spa day. Whether it’s enjoying getting your nails done or if it’s having a beach day. Create an unconventional spa day with your little princess. If she is able to decide what that will mean for her, be sure to incorporate her idea, what is it that she likes to do? At her age, what would she consider caring for herself? Asking questions like these allows you not only learn and spend intimate time with her, but also allows for a fun journey learning what each of you consider to be self-care.
1. Mommy & Daughter Unconventional Spa Day.
Age Modification
If your little one is below the age of 3, your Mommy & Daughter holiday self-care will look different. Creating an unconventional spa day could look like a cute simple way of introducing things you love to your little girl and simplifying it to their level of comfort while still being super luxe. For example, a nice of self-care could look like, creating a nicely lit room with low lit Christmas lighting, matching PJ’s, matched with your fave hot drink and their fave hot drink – their milk.
Don’t be afraid to get as creative as possible with minimal work, remember, this is a luxury day but also about self-care, it is not supposed to be an over extortion of time and effort.
HOBBY
2. Start a new hobby
What is that one thing you love doing that you wish you could find the time to start back up but with a partner?
Hobbies are a great way to disconnect from the world and reconnect with your self and what brings you happiness. Group and couple hobbies are so fun! Similar to creating your unconventional spa day, learning and understanding what your little one considers to be fun is a good way to build a bond on what you both love and enjoy.
This holiday, create a self care holiday hobby for you and your little one can enjoy together! This is a great time of year to create family traditions, get creative and start a tradition that your children can also bring to their children. One of the hobbies that we have started is building a ginger bread home that would remind Santa Clause of his home on Christmas Day. Every year our plan to make the Ginger Bread home bigger and better for both Alína and Santa.

3. Screen free day
The holidays can make us so busy as parents, it is so easy to give our child an iPad, phone, or put them in front of some sort of screen so we can get things done. But the holidays are not suppose to be about running around crazy, it’s our time to reflect and enjoy our family. As a lover of all things internet related, it can be hard to step away from a screen but it is definitely a necessity. I always want Alína to know and feel that I am pouring my time into her while also truly enjoying the holiday season! Apart of my self-care this year is too step away from my phone and minimize both myself and Alína’s screen time.
Our mommy daughter self-care will consist of time with our family across the pond. I plan to facilitate games for both Alína and my younger nephews and nieces to really make the holidays a time for bonding and reconnecting. Believe it or not, the best form of self care is the moments you spend smiling and laughing while feeling the bond and energy of the ones that you’re doing it with.
B less stressed this xmas
The holidays does not have to be a time for hustling and bustling, it can be a time of rest and rejuvenation if you plan for it to be that. It’s almost impossible to make every day a day of self-care, but taking out the time to bring self-care to your daughter from a young age can truly help them learn the beauty of taking time out to reset. Remember, luxury and self-care do not have to be expensive or extremely time-consuming. It can be as simple and cost-effective as these three steps. Go ahead and save this post or note it down and use it not only for xmas but as a part of your monthly schedule.
